Morning Session 1 of the 2026 Yoga Flow Festival—¡°Ashtanga Flow¡± (10:10–11:00)—opens the full-day route with a clear purpose: set the breath-led rhythm that will carry teachers through the later arc of mind-fascia work, pranayama, pratyahara, and meditation. The festival is co-hosted and co-organized by the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (Korea Therapy Yoga Association, KTYA) and the Yoga & Pilates Membership (YO&P Membership). After a short opening briefing (10:00–10:10) introducing the day¡¯s transitions, the Ashtanga session emphasizes ujjayi breath, bandha, and drishti not as ¡°techniques to memorize,¡± but as a practical method for tracking and reclaiming attention when fatigue, resistance, or emotional patterns arise during practice.


The session is led by Yanghee Kim, Director of Dongnae Ashtanga Yoga in Busan, Chair of the KTYA Ashtanga Yoga Academy, and an Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga teacher. She also serves as Research Committee Chair for Functional Recovery in the Movement Healing Group of the International Association of Integrative Therapy (IAIT), is a RYTK300+ examiner, a YO&P Membership lecturer, and a designated YO&P Scholarly Presenter. With experience as a 100-member IAIT therapist and as a meditation yoga instructor using singing bowls, she frames Ashtanga as a breath-centered system that stabilizes the nervous system and refines the teacher¡¯s inner ¡°return points¡± under pressure. She is also an author of Ashtanga-related books and has presented academic work on Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and its systematic approach to balancing body and mind.


Supporting leaders bring strong field-based coaching. Hayan Wi, Director of Mellow Yoga & Pilates in Jeonju, serves as a regional education center head and examiner within KTYA¡¯s RYTK300+ network, and also holds leadership and examiner roles across MPA Pilates and K-WIA Therapy Wall Yoga. With credentials as a meditation trainer and therapy counselor, she helps translate Ashtanga into teachable language for modern instructors—alignment, attention, and emotional regulation in one flow. Three additional leaders from Kim¡¯s studio team—Jinyoung Kim, Sejeong Son, and Eunju Ji—support participants with option-based progressions, Mysore-informed pacing, and precise cues for maintaining breath and drishti across different fitness levels. The session is designed to leave teachers not only inspired, but equipped with a replicable class format: breath setup, foundational flow, and a closing ¡°pattern-to-breath¡± reset they can apply immediately in their own studios.
