Afternoon Session 1 of the 2026 Yoga Flow Festival—¡°Aroma Meditation¡± (13:00–13:40)—is designed as the day¡¯s first deep inward turn after lunch, guiding participants toward pratyahara through scent, breath, and attention. Co-hosted and co-organized by the Korea Therapy Yoga Association (KTYA) and the Yoga & Pilates Membership (YO&P Membership), this 40-minute practice functions as a transition device: after the morning¡¯s asana and mind-fascia flow, it gathers the mind that tends to scatter again after a meal, using the olfactory sense to gently fold perception inward before Yoga Nidra, pranayama, singing bowls, and meditation.

The session is led by Youngju Song, Director of Soyou Therapy in Dongbaek, Yongin, and an Aroma Meditation Professor within the RYTK400 yoga certification curriculum. Song¡¯s approach is not a simple ¡°relaxation experience,¡± but a teachable protocol that instructors can replicate. She emphasizes sequencing—what to introduce first, how much scent to use, what language to cue, and how to match breath length and tempo—so the senses are not overstimulated and the nervous system can settle safely. Participants learn to observe thoughts and emotional waves that arise with scent, and to recognize the moment when attention naturally shifts from outward stimulation toward inner awareness.

Two supporting leaders add strong field-based structure. Hayan Wi, Director of Mellow Yoga & Pilates in Jeonju, is a regional education center head and examiner within KTYA¡¯s RYTK300+ network and also serves in leadership and examiner roles with the K-Wall International Alliance (K-WIA). She supports the session by refining posture and subtle alignment—especially in the chest and neck—so the ¡°body that receives scent¡± stays in a comfortable neutral state. Her role is to keep the inward turn stable, preventing collapse or tension as sensitivity increases. Miyoung Kim, Director of Gimiyoung Daom MediWall Pilates in Sangju, brings an operational lens from recovery and alignment-based studio work. She provides practical set-up guidance instructors can apply immediately: ventilation and scent intensity, seated posture options for jaw and shoulder tension, and short repeatable 10-minute aroma routines suitable for beginners or seniors.

The session flows in three parts: (1) gathering attention with scent, (2) combining scent with breath to deepen inward absorption, and (3) closing with a brief reflection on residual scent and body sensation. Song also shares safety principles, including ¡°no-scent¡± options, distance adjustments, and simple sensitivity checks, so instructors can teach responsibly across diverse student needs. Ultimately, the session helps teachers translate ¡°recovery and inwardization¡± into class design—showing how aroma can become a reliable entry point to pratyahara and a seamless bridge into the festival¡¯s later practices.
