Busan Dongnae-based ¡°Kim Yanghee Ashtanga Yoga¡± announced that it will run EEG (brainwave) analysis and consultation for all members throughout January, providing the same service to new visitors regardless of whether they enroll. The studio explained that a single EEG measurement and interpretation is typically priced at KRW 110,000, but it chose to proceed as an investment to establish evidence-based teaching rather than relying only on subjective impressions such as ¡°I feel lighter¡± or ¡°It feels better.¡±

The January initiative is structured around a ¡°Measure–Design–Feedback¡± framework. Before practice, members complete a brief EEG check to visualize nervous-system states related to arousal, relaxation capacity, and attention patterns. Based on the findings, the studio adjusts the intensity and rhythm of Ashtanga vinyasa practice, breathing application, and recovery segments. After practice, EEG is reviewed again to confirm direction of change and to refine the next week¡¯s training plan. The studio emphasized that EEG is used not as medical diagnosis, but as coaching data that strengthens the logic of consultation and helps members understand their own progress through before-and-after comparison.

The program is led by Director Kim Yanghee, who serves as President of the Ashtanga Academy under the Korea Therapy Yoga Association. Kim is known for a ¡°depth before speed¡± teaching principle—prioritizing alignment fundamentals such as breath, drishti, and bandha over rapid progression. The studio noted that this approach reduces compensatory patterns that can be reinforced by forced jump-backs or excessive mobility work, guiding practitioners to advance only when the body is ready.

The studio expects EEG-supported coaching to translate this philosophy into a consistent operating system. For members showing hyper-arousal patterns (anxiety, excessive tension), instruction focuses on down-regulation: longer breathing, steadier gaze, and expanded closing recovery. For low-activation patterns (fatigue, reduced focus), the studio emphasizes gradual up-regulation through rhythm, structured vinyasa pacing, and progressive core engagement. Even within the same Primary Series framework, key coaching points are adjusted depending on the practitioner¡¯s nervous-system profile.

Kim stated that yoga is not merely learning poses, but retraining the nervous system, and that recovery becomes faster and safer when practitioners choose practices aligned with their current state. The studio plans to build an advanced ¡°personal practice report¡± system by linking EEG before/after comparisons with self-reported sleep, fatigue recovery, and stress indicators—aiming to set a new local standard for evidence-based practice guidance in Busan.
